China Discovers Over 1,000 Metric Tons of High-Quality Gold in Hunan Province

Changsha: In a groundbreaking discovery, Chinese scientists have found over 1,000 metric tons of high-quality gold reserves in Pingjiang, Hunan Province. The estimated value of this gold is more than 83 billion US dollars.

Using advanced 3D modeling and drilling techniques, Chinese researchers have identified more than 40 gold mines in the region, marking a significant milestone in China’s mining industry.

China is the world’s largest gold producer, accounting for 10% of the global gold production in 2023. The country’s total gold reserves stand at 2,264 tons, making it the sixth-largest holder of gold reserves globally. In comparison, the United States leads the world with 8,133 tons of gold reserves.

This discovery further strengthens China’s position in the global gold market and reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to expand its mineral resources.
