New York: A helicopter crashed into the Hudson River near New York Manhattan, died all six people on board.
Emergency rescue operations were underway on both sides of the river between Lower Manhattan and Jersey City after the crash on Thursday.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said, “In the accident, three children and three adults, including a family from Spain and the pilot, died. Their bodies have been exhumed.
Four people were confirmed dead at the scene and two died after being taken to hospital, police said.
The New York Police wrote on the social network X, informing about the accident, “Emergency vehicles and traffic delays are possible due to the helicopter crash in the area around the West Side Highway and Spring Street.”
According to the New York City Fire Department, the helicopter crashed near Pier 40 near West Houston Street and West Street around 3:15 p.m.
Videos posted on social media show the Bell 206 helicopter flipping over after the crash, and shortly after being completely submerged in water.
US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The helicopter crash in the Hudson River is very tragic. It appears that six people have died, including the pilot, two adults and three children. The video of the crash is very painful. Our prayers are with the families of the victims.”
He also informed that US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and his team are active in this matter.
